For Those We Love in CarCanMadCarLan

Holiday Greetings to all fellow CarCanMadCarLanons in the USA and around the world!

On behalf of all the officers and board members, I would like to wish you all a blessed and safe holiday season. Amidst the worldwide economic turmoil that has beset every one of us today, celebrating Christmas reminds us that Jesus came to lift us up and brings us hope that this very challenging crisis will soon come to pass.  The birth of our Savior serves as a reminder that despite these challenges, each one of us is called to bring glad tidings, share our blessings and live a life worthy of His birth, even more so in these trying times.

Over the years of our association’s existence, everyone has been very generous and supportive of our association’s goals and objectives.  The diligence and genuine volunteerism that we see in every member in support of our efforts to implement our projects are the very inspiration that keep us going.  CarCanMadCarLanons are indeed a community that does not forget where they come from and no doubt one that can be counted upon when it comes to helping their own improve their lot.

Despite the smallness of our group, we have been able to sustain projects that directly benefit our recipients in the CarCanMadCarLan area. Our college scholarship program that was started in 2004 has already graduated one student from each town in March 2008, thanks largely to our scholarship donors.  The new set of scholars has just enrolled starting school year 2008-2009.  Some elementary and high schools have also benefited from the resource materials that we have collected and sent to them.  We will continue to gather hand me downs including reference books and computers that can be distributed to those in need of them.  We also strive to support local writing and reading contests to encourage students to excel and improve their chances for a higher education.

We just held our annual Christmas celebration on Saturday, December 13, 2008 and we had a big turn out.  Everyone had fun, especially the kids who were only too eager to receive their advance Christmas presents.  Elections were also held for a new set of officers for 2009-2010. Current serving officers were re-elected, partly because no one else wanted to challenge them.  I sincerely hope that future elections will bring about more new faces, especially from the younger generation.  It is also my hope that our association can continue to take a stand to face the challenges ahead, and that every member and benefactor will be assured that whatever support they have voluntarily and generously shared, benefiting every intended recipient, is and will always be greatly appreciated.

Marajaw na Pasko sanan Malipajon na Bag-ong Tuig dijo tanan!

God Bless,
